Valsartan 80 mg, amlodipine besilate 5 mg
Indications/Uses
HTN in patients not adequately controlled on monotherapy.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Severe hepatic & renal impairment. Concomitant use w/ aliskiren in patients w/ DM; GFR <60 mL/min/1.73 m2.
Special Precautions
Excessive hypotension. Initiation of therapy in patients w/ heart failure or recent MI, undergoing surgery or dialysis. Hepatic & renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <18 yr. Elderly ≥65 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Peripheral edema, vertigo; orthostatic hypotension & postural dizziness.
Drug Interactions
Increased serum K & creatinine w/ K-sparing diuretics (eg, spironolactone, triamterene, amiloride).
